Miss America for 2010 is Miss Virginia Caressa Cameron. Last night the 22 year old broadcast journalism student from Fredericksburg, Va, not only looked the lovely part, but gave solid performances in the talent and swimsuit competitions. Not only did Caressa Cameron exhibit her beauty and talent, she showed much more poise then controversial Carrie Prejean when same sex marriages were discussed.
Caressa Cameron received her crown from previous Miss America, Katie Stam, at the live broadcast from Vegas. She also took home a $50,000 scholarship along with the other duties and prizes associated with the crown. Unlike Carrie Prejean, when asked about her opinion on “proposition 8″, Cameron was much more versed. She basically adhered to her religious beliefs, but added that same sex marriages should not be legislated against.Kristy Cavinder, the first runner-up, takes a $25,000 scholarship as well. Russ Limaugh, who made headlines for being selected as a judge, tarnished the ceremonies slightly when he stood up and danced to a Lady Gaga hit.
The other 3 finalists, in order of placement, are; Stefanie Wittler, Katherine Putnam, Mallory Ervin. This was the 89th iss America event, and the other judges besides Limbaugh were Brooke White (American Idol) and Paul Rodriguez. Below is the crowning moment where Caressa Cameron became Miss America 2010.
